Miro is a Free Open-Source Internet TV and Video Player.
Thats alot to fit into a single application. And they do it well.
Their biggest "selling point" is that they claim to be better than Joost.
They even go to the pains of listing why.
But what can you do with Miro? What is Miro all about...
Here I was, thinking the customer was always right. And the music industry has been trying to deny this for far too long now.
Congratulations to Edgar Bronfman from Warner Music for seeing the error of their ways.
One of the nicest features of MythVideo, is being able to store your collection of DVD's on your hardrive.
From there, its a simple task of selecting the Video from the Video Gallery, and hitting play.
You can fetch all the Movie's details from IMDB, including poster art and movie ratings.
This makes it much more convenient, and more useful than having to fetch the DVD from your collection to watch it.
The only downside that I can see, is that you'll start to run out of disk space very quickly, as each movie will take up between 4GB and 8GB.
I faced a few challenges in getting this working, and I'm going to try shed as much light on this as possible.
Perhaps the MPAA should pay a little more attention to the facts, instead of pushing hype.
I dont know about anyone else, but I'd much sooner go watch a movie on someone elses recommendation, than on the suggestings of a big flashy ad campaign.
At least, thats how Telkom advertises and sells their ADSL Broadband.
But what they really say, in the terms and conditions, is that you musn't use your ADSL.
No really.
