December 2007 Archives

Looks like this is going to become a regular feature :)

I've been wanting to do my Amateur Radio license for a while back, which means I have to learn Morse Code.

Scared of breaking things when you're messing around on your Linux machine? How about this interesting application of rsync to keep multiple versions of files around.

If you haven't already, go install StumbleUpon now! Browsing the Internet will never be the same... (But don't get too carried away)

What to do with some of your pictures. Dunno why, but its cool.

I like Lego.. but this is going a bit far.

Nobody here but us ferns...

Noah Kalina took a picture of himself every day for more than 6 years and put them together in a video. The Simpsons did this too, Homer takes a picture of himself every day for 39 years.

What do you do when someone manufactures an already awesome little, low-spec laptop? Why, you make it more awesome!

Another Project

Now that my MythTV Project (well, Phase 1) is nearing completion, I’ve come up with a few new projects.

I’m not sure why I feel this need to have many little projects on the go… I barely have enough time to put into one project.

Anyway, Here’s my idea.

Microsoft’s Marketing department came up with this one a few months back.
The Microsoft Surface. Looks cool, I can see the potential, but I think its a long way away from being something that everyone has in their lounge.

Keep in mind, the technology behind the Multi-touch interface has been around alot longer than Microsoft Surface (Check out the bottom of this page to see some examples of earlier systems). The US Military have been putting alot of money into it too…

Saw this a while back.
Infact, Justin sent me the matchbox MP3 before I left South Africa.

Tom sent me a link to it again. I've never heard the others, or read any of the background on it.

So get your headphones, and prepare to have your ears and brain confused.

A few people know this... I have a problem seeing certain colours.

I really do have a problem seeing the difference between some of these pictures.
I can't see anything at all in that dot picture (apparently there's a number in it)

Excellent Video.
I'm sure you'll agree...

Yes,
I have nother better to do...
No really.

All that prep work and research I did.
All those documents I put together and printed.
Just for the meeting that you requested.

Go right ahead and cancel it 30 minutes before its supposed to start.
With no reason.

Thats fine
In Ireland, nothing starts on time. Infact, some things just don't happen at all.
Like busses, which are never where they're supposed to be.

People in Ireland have this mentality of "It'll happen when I want it to happen".
Meetings... Never happen the first time, or second time around. You have to schedule it, email them, book the room and organise the coffee. Then you wait for 10 minutes for them, then you have to go find them and remind them that they're supposed to be in a meeting.

I presented my first training session today.
I was giving training on a new, and rather important piece of software (which I wrote)

They told me to!

Update: They keep removing the video from YouTube, due to some legal issues with a picture used in the video.
