They just looked out of place anyway.
While the guys are still working on the final of the Jawug Promo video, I thought I’d throw up one of their longer clips.
The final is likely to be very different, so this one is just another little video from them.
I’m expecting some more great videos over the next few weeks.
Keep it up Ryder!
A while back I mentioned that I was involved in the founding of Jawug, which has now grown into Wug.
Sadly, I left South Africa just before things started to get interesting.
Well, Ryder has put together a little video, with some of the choice pictures from the last few years of Jawug.
Then there's a mention from Pat that O2 in Germany have started blocking calls to Rebtel, trying very hard to stamp on competition, but only really managing to alienate their customers.
Its no wonder people are trying to find ways around O2's ridiculous rates. O2 Ireland charge €3.23 per minute for calls to South Africa. (If you can find their rates... in that maze they call a website)
No differentiation between South African mobile phones, and landlines. Just a crazy rate of €3.23
Techcrunch were lucky enough to get a behind-the-scenes visit to Microsoft to have a look at Photosynth.
I mentioned it briefly in yesterday's post
Video after the jump
I know I've taken loads of pictures over the past few years.
Pictures of all sorts of places, all of different resolutions. Some taken during the day, some at night.
I have a digital picture collection that has pictures from about 6 different cameras (and thats excluded all the not-so-great pictures that were taken with Camera Phones)
The question is, what am I supposed to do with all the pictures?
I've had a load of them printed by MyPhotoAlbum and I've got a few DVD's full of pictures, and I've got about 3GB of pictures on my laptop as we speak.
I was considering uploading them to Flickr, but whats the point? 99% of them wouldn't interest anyone.
But, as usual, some very clever people have come up with a few very clever things to do with the worlds photo collections
Some really smart people at the University of Washington have come up with a way to enhance videos by using still photo's to fill in the details.
I have no other words for what they've come up with. Its pretty damn impressive.
You really have to watch the video to see the full potential of what they're doing here...
A board game, called the War on Terror, was confiscated by British police, because it had a balaclava in the box.
The balaclava, "could be used to conceal someone's identity or could be used in the course of a criminal act".
New rules I'm expecting to see the UK implement:
- Pens are illegal, for being "mightier than the sword".
- Brides are no longer allowed to wear a veils, as they might be terrorists.
- 14 year old boys will be mandated, by law, to shave. Incase their fuzzy top lip conceals their identity.
- Tinted contact lenses will be outlawed, as this would confuse the police when trying to build an identi-kit
Update: Looks like the War on Terror Board Game website is down, so here's Bruce Schneier's take on things, with a little explanation of the game.
In the last few weeks, they've been sending out "CNN Alerts", in the hopes of luring you into clicking their malware infested links.
Now, they've changed to MSNBC (obviously to avoid the spam filters).
But this mail I received today is quite humorous.
msnbc.com: BREAKING NEWS: Stonehenge was ‘Part of Crazy Golf Course for Race of Giant Humans’
Thanks for the giggle!
Most of that post, was a rant about Air France losing our luggage.
It was eventually returned, but not after we had to spend a few hundred Euro on clothing and toiletries to get us through the 3 days that we both went without our luggage.
There's also a mention of a 3-4 week process, after which I'll get my money refunded.
Nice try. Try 8 months, and still not a cent.
